Research activity

The current research of the group focuses on the early stages of cosmic galaxy formation, the so-called Cosmic Dark Ages, that took place during the first billion years after the Big Bang. We are interested in understanding the nature and properties of the first stars and galaxies and their effects on the subsequent evolution of the universe in terms of reionization, metal enrichment and various types of feedback processes. We also explore the nature of the dark matter. Although our research is predominantly theoretical and heavily based on high performance computer simulations, it also embeds marked phenomenological links to several ongoing experiments and observations.
